Katie was born in Austin, Texas on August 24th, 1979. She has always had a zest for life and proved it by insisting on being born about a month premature. She just couldn’t wait to get started!
Katie took ballet, tap and jazz dancing lessons until she was 13 years old and was a cheerleader for Great Hills Christian School where she attended part of her elementary school years. She was very interested in music and also took piano and harp lessons. Her family moved from Austin to Lago Vista, a small town on Lake Travis when Katie was in the 6th grade. She took up volleyball, tennis and water skiing although, she quickly discovered that sports really wasn’t her cup of tea.
Katie received her cosmetology license in June of 1998, 22 days after graduating from high school. Katie worked for at several hair salons until October of 1999 when she was accepted to the American Airlines Flight Attendant Academy, graduated and was transferred to Boston, Massachusetts. Katie lived in Boston, New Hampshire and Connecticut over the course of that year while being a flight attendant for American Airlines. Missing her family more than she anticipated, Katie decided it wise to return home with her family and go back to school. She attended Austin Community College for a few semesters before realizing that school was not for her either and she returned to the salon business cutting hair for a salon near downtown Austin.
It became apperant that once again, Katie was ready for a change and she accepted a position in Dallas at The Adolphus Hotel front desk agent and concierge and remained there for three years. While living in Irving, Katie decided it was time for a “grown up” career and decided to go to real estate school at Leonard Hawes Kaplan University. She received her real estate license in April of 2005 and discovered her passion within her new career. She went to work for an Apartment Locator firm immediately. While working there, her boss, Daley and her became fast friends and she introduced her to Jay Hartley through a mutual friend of theirs.
Jay & Katie dated for almost a year before Katie went to work with Jay at Classic Property Management. They bought their first house in May of 2007 and were married November 10, 2007. They have two dogs, “Kujo” & “Lexie” and plan on trying soon for children.
Katie loves to laugh,(especially through tears) and is a self professed “messy girl”. She despises housework and especially laundry but tries hard to tolorate it for her sweet husband’s sake. She very rarely finishes one creative project without starting a new one in between and she lives by the standard of “organized chaos”. She adores her husband who is the most important and wonderful man she’s ever met and she has the most wonderful friend’s a girl can ask for. Katie loves God, reality TV, musicals, feel good movies, bubble baths and singing as loudly as possible while alone in the car. She loves to travel but now hates to fly. Katie is terrified of heights, needles and feet but tries very hard not to drive her husband and everyone around her insane with her irrational fears. She is a die hard republican into politics and current events. A big believer in the strength and power of women and believes the bond between a woman and her girlfriends should be celebrated with each other and feared by outsiders.
